Rajasthan police officers booked for alleged extortion and assault of minor

Seven police officers in Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district have been booked following allegations of extortion, physical assault, and framing a 16-year-old minor in a false criminal case.

A complaint filed by the minor’s aunt alleges that officers from the District Special Team (DST) and the Mathura Gate police station demanded a monthly payment of ₹10,000. The victim, who had operated a rental car business, reportedly paid the amount for three months before shutting down the business due to financial losses. When he refused to continue the payments, the accused allegedly threatened him with a firearm and physically assaulted him.

The complaint further claims that officers planted an illegal firearm on the minor to implicate him under the Arms Act. In response, the Mathura Gate Police Station In-charge, Harlal Meena, dismissed the allegations as baseless, stating that the minor is already involved in two prior cases under the Arms Act and suggesting the charges were fabricated to pressure law enforcement. Authorities are currently investigating the matter.
