Rajasthan prepares for urban local body elections

Preparations are underway for the upcoming urban local body elections in Rajasthan, which will cover 309 local bodies. The State Election Commission, chaired by Rajeshwar Singh, recently met with political party representatives to discuss the election schedule, electoral rolls, the nomination process, and the Model Code of Conduct. The Commission emphasized the need for free, fair, and transparent elections, urging all parties to adhere to legal guidelines.

In Jaipur, the District Election Office has established 15 nomination centers for candidates contesting the 150 wards in the Municipal Corporation elections. Nomination filings are scheduled for August 27, 29, and 31, 2026. The voting process is expected to be conducted in two phases, with the first phase set for September 9 and the second for September 11.
