Rajasthan rainfall triggers widespread flooding and urban disruption

Heavy rainfall across several districts in Rajasthan has caused widespread flooding, disrupting daily life and exposing weaknesses in urban drainage systems. In Jaipur, significant waterlogging on major roads, including Kalwar Road, Mansarovar, and Vaishali Nagar, led to severe traffic congestion and forced motorists to navigate through deep water.

In the Khairthal-Tijara district, the Khairthal underpass saw water levels rise to approximately 7 feet, prompting authorities to close the route to traffic. Other affected areas include Alwar, where students were seen wading through flooded streets to reach school, and Dholpur, which recorded 44mm of rain in a 12-hour period.

In Karauli, flooding in marketplaces forced some shopkeepers to close their businesses, while in Bharatpur, heavy rains caused a wall to collapse in the Nadbai area. The ongoing monsoon activity has also led to a drop in temperatures across the region.
