Rajasthan ranks fourth nationally in PMFBY crop insurance implementation
Rajasthan has secured fourth place nationally in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY), earning 43.5 points based on the Government of India’s performance evaluation. The state achieved full marks in technical categories, specifically for using mobile applications for crop cutting experiments and implementing Yield Estimation System Technology (YESTECH).
In terms of financial impact, claims totaling 35,600 crore rupees have been paid to farmers in the state. While Assam ranked first and Uttar Pradesh second, Rajasthan’s progress is highlighted by its use of digital technology to ensure transparency and timely action in crop yield assessment.
To ensure insurance benefits, farmers are reminded that they must report crop damage caused by natural disasters or weather events within a 72-hour window. This requirement applies to localized risks and post-harvest losses, such as those caused by cyclones or unseasonal rain. Reports can be filed through the Krishi Rakshak Portal, the 14447 helpline, or via banks and insurance companies.
