Rajasthan tourism sees rising interest from Japanese travelers

Japanese travelers are showing an increasing interest in Rajasthan, moving beyond traditional sightseeing of forts and palaces toward more diverse, experiential travel. Following the Tourism Expo Japan in Tokyo, officials noted a rising demand for solo journeys, wildlife experiences, rural life, handicrafts, and local cuisine.

During the expo, Japanese travel agents and tourists inquired about connectivity, costs, and the ability to combine multiple destinations such as Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, and Ranthambore into single itineraries. The luxury train service, Palace on Wheels, also emerged as a significant point of interest for high-end travelers.

To address concerns regarding safety and independent travel, particularly among Japanese women, the Rajasthan Tourism Department highlighted available assistance mechanisms, including the Tourist Assistance Force and the presence of women police personnel.
