Rajasthan weather: Hailstorms and heavy rain cause crop damage

Severe weather caused by a Western Disturbance has brought heavy rain, hailstorms, and dust storms to several districts in Rajasthan, including Jaipur, Bikaner, Churu, Dausa, and Sikar. In areas such as Sri Ganganagar and Hanumangarh, intense dust storms significantly reduced visibility, while heavy cloud cover created dark conditions during the day.

The sudden shift in weather has led to a drop in temperatures, with some regions in Shekhawati recording minimum temperatures below 20 degrees Celsius. While the rain provided relief from humidity, it has caused significant concern for the agricultural sector. In Bikaner and Dausa, hailstorms and heavy winds have damaged standing crops and soaked harvested pearl millet (bajra) left in the fields.

Meteorological officials expect weather conditions to stabilize over the next few days as the influence of the Western Disturbance weakens, with temperatures projected to rise by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius.
