Rajeev Chandrasekhar and P. Chidambaram clash over Naxalism remarks

A political dispute has emerged between BJP leader Rajeev Chandrasekhar and senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram regarding the handling of Naxalism and ideological stances.

Chandrasekhar criticized Chidambaram following the recent conviction of 10 individuals involved in a 2013 Naxal attack in Chhattisgarh that killed several Congress leaders. Chandrasekhar questioned Chidambaram’s self-description as an ‘intellectual Naxal,’ suggesting such views represent a history of leniency toward Left-Wing Extremism during the UPA era.

Chidambaram responded by stating that Chandrasekhar’s timeline is inaccurate, noting that he left the Union Home Ministry in August 2012, whereas the Chhattisgarh attack occurred in May 2013. Chandrasekhar further accused the Congress party of fostering division and maintaining a soft stance on security issues, while asserting that the current administration under Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken decisive action to eradicate Naxalism.
