Rajeshwari Kumari appointed to OCA Athletes Commission

Former Indian trap shooter Rajeshwari Kumari has been appointed as the South Asian representative to the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) Athletes Commission. Her nomination was approved by the OCA Executive Board during the 20th Asian Games in Nagoya.

Kumari, a silver medalist from the 2023 Asian Games and a participant in the Paris Olympics, becomes the second Indian to serve on the commission, following Vice-Chairman Shiva Keshavan. Unlike other zonal positions that underwent elections, her appointment for the South Asia zone was made under transitional arrangements approved by the OCA Executive Board.

Other newly elected members include representatives from Kazakhstan, Qatar, Japan, and Thailand. The commission will begin its new term for 2026–2030, focusing on strengthening athlete representation and ensuring their voices contribute to sports development across Asia.
