Rajinikanth reflects on former career as bus conductor
Indian cinema superstar Rajinikanth has reflected on his life before fame, stating that he feels a stronger connection to his former role as a bus conductor than to his current superstar identity. During a promotional event for his upcoming film, Jailer 2, the 75-year-old actor shared that he spent five years working for the Bangalore Transport Service in Bengaluru before his acting career began.
Rajinikanth, born Shivaji Rao Gaikwad, noted that seeing buses and conductors in khaki uniforms in Bengaluru brings back emotional memories. He expressed a continued desire to identify with his working-class roots, mentioning that he often visits the city because it reminds him of that period in his life. He also credited his longevity in the film industry to the enduring support of his Tamil audience.
Jailer 2, directed by Nelson Dilipkumar, serves as a sequel to the 2023 film Jailer. The upcoming release is expected to feature a wide IMAX release.
