Rajnath Singh inaugurates Hutatma Smriti Smarak in Goa
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh inaugurated the ‘Hutatma Smriti Smarak’ in Goa to honor the martyrs of the Goa Liberation Movement. During the ceremony, Singh paid tribute to the revolutionaries who fought against Portuguese colonial rule, stating that they wrote the final chapter of India’s freedom with their blood.
Singh highlighted the contributions of individuals from various parts of India, including Karnail Singh from Punjab, Sahodra Devi from Madhya Pradesh, and Madhukar Damodar Chaudhary from Maharashtra. He noted that approximately 2,500 satyagrahis participated in the struggle at Patradevi, demonstrating immense courage despite the risk of death.
In his address, the Defence Minister emphasized national unity, asserting that the identity of being Indian stands above regionalism and casteism. The event was attended by Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Union Minister Shripad Yesso Naik.
