Rajnath Singh to launch T-72 tank overhaul project in Jabalpur

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is set to launch a strategic project in Jabalpur to overhaul the Indian Army’s T-72 and T-90 frontline tanks. The groundbreaking ceremony will take place at the Vehicle Factory Jabalpur, a facility under Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited.

The project aims to enhance the country’s indigenous defence capabilities by improving the maintenance, modernization, and combat readiness of the armoured fleet. By establishing these overhaul capacities domestically, India seeks to strengthen its self-reliance in the defence sector and extend the operational life of key military platforms like the T-72, also known as ‘Ajeya’.

Chief Minister Mohan Yadav will be present for the visit. The Vehicle Factory Jabalpur, established in 1969, has a long history of manufacturing and maintaining military vehicles for the armed forces.
