India's Monsoon Session of Parliament has concluded following a period of intense political deadlock and frequent disruptions. While the session resulted in the passage of 12 bills, the quality of debate was significantly hampered by protests from the Opposition INDIA bloc.

Productivity reached multi-year lows, with the Lok Sabha operating at only 19 percent of its scheduled time and the Rajya Sabha at 39 percent. Most of the passed legislation, including several tax and registration bills, was cleared without substantive discussion. The only major piece of legislation to receive detailed debate was the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, aimed at addressing examination malpractice and paper leaks.

The session was dominated by contentious issues, including the NEET-UG paper leak controversy, alleged police brutality against student protesters in July, and claims regarding the management of donations at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. The ruling BJP accused the Opposition, led by Rahul Gandhi, of derailing proceedings through irresponsible behavior and refusing to engage in discussions even after government assurances. Conversely, the Opposition accused the government of being unresponsive to youth issues and failing to provide accountability for recent student protests.
