Rakibul Hasan sent to jail in Dhaka sedition case

Rakibul Hasan, the former officer-in-charge of Cantonment Police Station, has been sent to prison by a Dhaka court following a seven-day remand. The legal action stems from a sedition case involving a viral audio recording.

The recording, which allegedly features a person criticizing the government, administration, army, and police, also touched upon the situation regarding former prime minister Sheikh Hasina. While the authenticity of the voice in the audio has not been confirmed, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police previously removed Hasan from his post and formed a probe committee to investigate the matter.
