Bollywood actress Rakul Preet Singh confirmed she will portray Surpanakha in the highly anticipated film "Ramayana: Part One" after being drawn to the character’s complexity. She thanked a fan’s open‑letter on X, noting that history often reduces Surpanakha to a single incident, while the role offers deeper narrative layers.

The film is directed by Nitesh Tiwari and produced by Prime Focus Studios, DNEG, and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, with a planned release timed for Diwali 2026. The ensemble cast includes Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, Sai Pallavi as Sita, and Yash as Ravana, among others.
