Rakuten Mobile surpasses 11 million total subscribers

Rakuten Mobile announced that its total number of subscribers has surpassed 11 million as of September 24. This figure includes MNO, MVNO, MVNE, and Business Continuity Plan (BCP) lines. Specifically, the MNO subscriber count stands at 10.18 million.

The company attributes this growth to several strategic initiatives, including the expansion of the ‘Rakuten Saikyo Plan,’ the introduction of the ‘Rakuten Saikyo U-NEXT’ service which bundles unlimited data with video and book content, and the growth of the ‘Saikyo Family Discount.’

Rakuten is also leveraging the broader Rakuten ecosystem by integrating services with Rakuten Bank and Rakuten Insurance. To support user retention, the company has enhanced its physical support through weekly smartphone classes at Rakuten Mobile shops, specifically targeting senior citizens.

According to a survey by the MMD Institute, Rakuten Mobile holds the highest intention for continued use among users and has ranked first as a preferred carrier for those considering switching services for six consecutive years.
