Rakuten Viber introduces eSIM travel services in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Rakuten Viber is introducing eSIM services for travelers in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This new feature allows users to purchase data roaming packages directly within the Viber application to maintain connectivity while abroad.
The service utilizes a cloud-based AI platform from Rakuten Mobile. Users can access the eSIM store through the “More” menu in the app, select from various data packages covering hundreds of destinations, and complete purchases using integrated payment methods. To ensure transaction security, Viber is utilizing its existing anti-fraud mechanisms alongside tools provided by Stripe.
Installation can be completed via a “Quick Install” link, QR code scanning, or manual data entry. This move is part of Viber's broader effort to evolve into a super-app. The global market for travel-related eSIM services is projected to see a 380% revenue increase between 2025 and 2030.
