Raków Częstochowa faces relegation crisis and internal squad issues
Raków Częstochowa is facing a severe crisis in the Ekstraklasa, currently sitting at the bottom of the league table with only three points from ten matches. Despite recent years of success, including a Polish championship in the 2022/23 season, the club is now facing potential relegation.
Reports indicate deep-seated issues within the squad. Former Polish international Wojciech Kowalczyk suggested the team’s current state may be irreparable, noting that the club’s recent failure to advance in European competitions might have inadvertently spared them from further exhaustion.
Internal atmosphere is also a major concern. Journalist Kamil Głębocki reported a lack of cohesion and communication within the locker room, describing a “scandalous” environment where players do not speak to one another. This mental decline is reportedly reflected in their on-field performance, characterized by a lack of risk-taking and poor body language.
New coach Tomasz Kaczmarek has struggled to turn the situation around; after an initial win in his debut, the team has suffered three consecutive losses, conceding ten goals in that period.
