Raúl Durdos hearing postponed due to medical reasons
The court hearing for Raúl Durdos, the General Secretary of the Seafarers' Union (SOMU), has been postponed. Durdos was scheduled to testify as an accused party in a case involving allegations of mistreatment and disobedience, following a complaint filed three years ago by Bettina Santillán, the former secretary of women for the union.
The postponement follows a medical certificate citing “ambulatory rest” after Durdos was hospitalized for a coronary condition at the Otamendi Sanatorium. The hearing is now rescheduled for Monday, August 31, at 9:00 a.m. at the Criminal, Contraventional, and Misdemeanor Court No. 2 in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires.
The case is being overseen by Judge José Raúl Béguelin. The court previously rejected defense requests to prevent media coverage of the trial or to restrict Santillán from making social media posts related to the case, noting that such restrictions could influence the union's electoral process, which is currently halted by labor court intervention.
