Raúl Flores breaks deadlift world record with 511 kg lift

Mexican strongman Raúl Abraham “Tayzon” Flores Castro set a new world deadlift record at the 2026 World Deadlift Championships in Birmingham, England. Flores successfully lifted 511 kilograms (approximately 1,126.56 pounds), surpassing the previous record of 510 kilograms held by Icelandic athlete Hafþór Júlíus Björnsson.

Flores, a 26-year-old from Ciudad Victoria, Tamaulipas, entered the competition following a fourth-place finish at the 2025 championships. Björnsson, known for his role in “Game of Thrones,” finished in second place at the event with a lift of 480 kilograms.

The competition is part of the Official Strongman World Tour organized by Giants Live. This specific record pertains to the strongman discipline of deadlifting rather than Olympic weightlifting.
