Raúl García performs 30,000-kilometre charity unicycle ride

Guatemalan robotic engineer Raúl García is undertaking a 30,000-kilometre unicycle journey from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, to Tierra del Fuego, Argentina, to raise funds for the non-profit Maya Pedal.

On August 21, García passed through Burns Lake in northwest British Columbia. The charity ride aims to support Maya Pedal, an organization that repurposes second-hand bicycles into various human-powered machines—such as water pumps, blenders, and laundry machines—for rural communities lacking affordable electric energy.

García, who began his journey on June 1, intends to spend two to three years traveling through the Americas to support the cause.
