Raleigh hosts major cultural festivals in downtown area

Raleigh, North Carolina, hosted two major cultural events that drew significant crowds to its downtown area.

The 17th Annual African American Cultural Festival of Raleigh & Wake County attracted approximately 40,000 people over Labor Day weekend. Centered on the theme ‘Rooted in Community, Anchored in Legacy,’ the festival featured a Legacy Wall for community storytelling, workshops, and diverse musical performances including jazz, R&B, reggae, and gospel. Headliners included Kindred the Family Soul and Chubb Rock.

Additionally, the Hopscotch Music Festival returned to downtown Raleigh, utilizing City Plaza and various local venues. Local business owners noted that the multi-day event provides a substantial economic boost and showcases the city’s urban culture to regional visitors.
