Ralf Beßler aims for German Chancellorship with new party

Ralf Beßler, the mayor of Plettenberg and founder of the new party ‘Bürgerauftrag Deutschland’, has announced his intention to run for German Chancellor in the March 2029 federal election.

Beßler, 68, established the nationwide party on July 15, citing a widespread dissatisfaction with current politicians. He aims to achieve a significant electoral result of ‘50 percent plus’ to secure leadership. His political platform is driven by a desire to address what he describes as a negative public perception of the political class.
