Ralf Richter, German actor known for ‘Das Boot’, dies at 69
German actor Ralf Richter has died at the age of 69. His death was confirmed by his children, Aline and Maxwell, who shared the news on Instagram. Richter, who was born in Essen and grew up in Bochum, was a well-known figure in German cinema, recognized for his roles in the Academy Award-nominated film ‘Das Boot’ and the cult comedy ‘Bang Boom Bang’.
According to his son, Richter had been facing significant health challenges for some time, including COPD and heart failure. He passed away in Cologne on the night of September 14-15, 2026.
Following his passing, the family has launched a donation campaign to help cover the costs of a dignified funeral, noting that the financial burden is difficult to manage alone. The campaign has already seen significant community support, reaching 75 percent of its 8,000 Euro goal within days.
