Ralf Stegner clashes with BSW politician over Ukraine policy

During a ZDF talk show, SPD politician Ralf Stegner engaged in a heated dispute with Claudia Wittig, a BSW deputy parliamentary group leader in Saxony-Anhalt. The conflict centered on a joint motion by the AfD and BSW in the Saxony-Anhalt state parliament, which calls for the cessation of all aid to Ukraine and the removal of sanctions against Russia.

Wittig defended her party's stance, arguing that the conflict should be “frozen” at the current front lines to facilitate negotiations and end the loss of life. She emphasized that this approach does not imply legal recognition of territorial losses. Stegner strongly rejected this position, accusing the BSW of adopting Vladimir Putin's perspective and leaving Ukraine unsupported. He further criticized Wittig, stating that as a member of a left-wing party, she is “helping a fascist into office.”
