Rally drivers Oitt Tanak and Heiki Kobalainen showcase strong performances in Rome events
Toyota test driver Oitt Tanak piloted a 0b‑car (a Toyota GR Yaris Rally2) during the ERC round at Roma Capitale, using the run to gather data ahead of a possible inclusion in next season’s World Rally Championship. He explained, “I can’t say it’s absolutely not going to happen, but at the moment there is no plan,” leaving the door open for a future WRC return.
In the concurrent Italian Rally Championship round, Heiki Kobalainen competed in a Citroën C3 Rally2 on Dunlop tyres. He finished 20th overall and secured a personal best sixth place in the national championship. Commenting on his performance, Kobalainen said, “I think I could have driven even better; next time I’ll push more.” Both drivers highlighted the competitive atmosphere of the Rome stages and their ambition to improve in upcoming events.
