Rally Estonia: Oliver Solberg dominates overall while Robert Virves clinches WRC2 victory

The WRC round Rally Estonia took place on Estonia’s southern roads, featuring top drivers such as Oliver Solberg, Elfyn Evans, Sébastien Ogier and local contenders. Solberg led the overall classification, with the Finnish star fending off challenges from teammates and rivals like Thierry Neuville and Sami Pajari. In the WRC2 category, Estonia’s own Robert Virves emerged as the class leader, securing the win despite a modest speed‑limit breach during pre‑event reconnaissance.

During the pre‑rally recce, the stewards issued speed‑limit fines to several competitors. Robert Virves was penalised for exceeding the limit by about 10 km/h, Japanese driver Yuki Yamamoto by 20.3 km/h and Turkish driver Ugur Soylu by just under 10 km/h, each receiving €500 or €225 fines. World‑champion Sébastien Ogier was also fined €275 for a similar infraction. The penalties did not affect the final results, and Virves secured the WRC2 class win.
