Rally Sweden announces 2027 WRC route and stage updates
Organizers of Rally Sweden have officially announced the route plans for the 2027 World Rally Championship (WRC) event. Following the FIA's confirmation of the new calendar, the competition will feature 18 special stages held over four days.
The event will continue to be based in the Umeå region, marking its sixth consecutive year in the area. Route Director Joakim Astrom stated that the plan aims to maximize the geographic potential of the Västerbotten region by combining popular existing stages with new, challenging additions designed to enhance both competition and spectator experience.
Key updates to the route include a spectacular ice loop on Lake Holmbäckssjön and the introduction of the Risträsk special stage, which incorporates sections of the former Västervik stage. The event is scheduled to begin with a shakedown in Umeå city center, followed by an opening ceremony at The Red Barn Arena.
