Ralph Fiennes discusses disinformation and character approach for The Hunger Games prequel
Actor Ralph Fiennes has shared insights regarding his role as President Coriolanus Snow in the upcoming film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. Fiennes stated that he aimed to honor the work of the late Donald Sutherland, who previously played the character, while avoiding a direct imitation. He described the character's psychology as being centered on power, control, and the challenges posed by external confrontations.
During a screening event in London, Fiennes also expressed concern regarding the global prevalence of disinformation and propaganda. He noted that governments often use propaganda to shape narratives and observed that political polarization is increasing as individuals use information to fuel conflict rather than seeking humanitarian solutions or healing.
Additionally, actress Mckenna Grace, who portrays Maysilee Donner in the prequel, spoke about the emotional and physical toll of the production. She described experiencing a constant fight-or-flight response due to the intense nature of the role and the dangerous stunts required for the film.
