Ralph Fiennes to star in Henry Cecil biopic ‘Unbeaten’

Actor Ralph Fiennes is set to star as the legendary British horse racing trainer Henry Cecil in the upcoming film ‘Unbeaten’. Directed by Nora Fingscheidt, the biopic is based on the true story of Cecil and his champion racehorse, Frankel.

The film will depict Cecil’s final years, focusing on his journey to rebuild his career and personal life following periods of scandal and health crises. Key narrative elements include his partnership with the undefeated Frankel—often cited as one of the greatest European thoroughbreds—and his reunion with his wife, Jane McKeown.

Studiocanal is fully financing the project and will handle theatrical releases in several territories, including the UK, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Benelux, Australia, and New Zealand. The screenplay is written by Bash Doran, with Tony Rushmer serving as a consultant. Production is expected to begin in the coming years.
