Ralph Mupita re-elected to the GSMA Board of Directors

MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita has been re-elected to the GSMA Board of Directors for the 2027–2028 term. The board, which consists of 26 senior representatives from global mobile operators, provides strategic direction to the organization as it works to advance the mobile industry.

Mupita, who has served as Deputy Chair since April 2025, stated that his continued involvement comes at a time when artificial intelligence is beginning to reshape the industry. He emphasized the importance of using mobile technology to widen access to opportunity, particularly for people across Africa and the Global South who are not yet online.

During his term, Mupita intends to focus on the African agenda, specifically addressing usage and coverage gaps, increasing investment, and securing a climate-smart future. He noted that the GSMA serves as a critical platform for bringing together operators, the mobile ecosystem, and policymakers to sustain investment and improve affordability.
