Ralph Siegel returns home and aims for Eurovision comeback
German music producer and composer Ralph Siegel has returned home following a severe health crisis that included a hospital stay for pneumonia and a period in a medically induced coma. During his rehabilitation at Tegernsee, the 80-year-old suffered five falls due to a loss of muscle strength, resulting in a broken left foot.
Despite these physical setbacks, Siegel has announced his intention to return to the Eurovision Song Contest (ESC). He has submitted a new song for the German national selection process, intended to be performed by a new generation of the group Dschinghis Khan. Siegel, who famously composed the group's hit that placed fourth in the 1979 contest, stated that the new composition came to him while he was in a coma and described it as one of the best pieces he has ever written.
