Ram Gopal Varma begins filming two-part crime film Police Company

Director Ram Gopal Varma has begun production on ‘Police Company’, a crime thriller inspired by the life of former Mumbai Police encounter specialist Daya Nayak. Starring Harshvardhan Rane in the lead role, the project is being developed as a two-part film franchise rather than a web series.

Produced by T-Series, the two films will be shot back-to-back, with a planned release in 2027 scheduled only a few months apart. Set during the late 1990s and early 2000s, the story focuses on the Mumbai Police Detection Unit and its efforts to dismantle organized crime syndicates.

The ensemble cast includes Fardeen Khan, Saurabh Shukla, Paresh Rawal, and Makarand Deshpande. While Rane portrays Nayak, other members of the encounter squad will be played by new actors.
