Ram Gopal Yadav condemns amendment to Vande Mataram bill
Socialist Party leader and Rajya Sabha member Ram Gopal Yadav criticised the recent amendment to the Vande Mataram bill, saying the national song should not be altered and noting that during the freedom struggle people were jailed and shot for chanting it. He accepted the penalty provision attached to the amendment but called the change unnecessary. Yadav also raised concerns over the alleged theft at the Ram Temple, describing it as a matter of national and global significance for devotees. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for commending the anti‑paper leak bill, stating that no criminal should be pardoned. In addition, Yadav rebuked Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy's remark that "engineering graduates are criminally inclined," deeming the comment inappropriate.
