Ram Kapoor says on‑set drinking and health crisis led to end of 'Bade Achhe Lagte Hain

Actor Ram Kapoor revealed on the reality show Lock Upp that his excessive drinking, chronic lateness and harsh behavior on the set of the TV serial *Bade Achhe Lagte Hain* contributed to the programme’s termination. He described himself as a “monster” who arrived up to six hours late and consumed alcohol during shoots.

Kapoor also disclosed that during the same period his health deteriorated dramatically. Doctors warned him he had only six months to live as his blood‑sugar levels rose to 400‑600 mg/dL, requiring insulin three times a day. He was battling severe depression, extreme weight gain and worked up to 14 hours daily, keeping the struggle hidden from his wife Gautami Kapoor and their children. He later credited his children for motivating him to change his lifestyle.

The actor’s admissions highlight both personal health risks and professional misconduct that impacted one of India’s most popular television series.
