Ram Temple donation theft probe deepens in Ayodhya

Police in Uttar Pradesh have intensified the investigation into the alleged theft of donations collected for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. During a police remand, two suspects – Ramashankar Mishra and retired bank employee Subhash Srivastava – were taken to a police line for questioning, with the court granting only a 14‑hour remand. Investigators are focused on tracing how the donated money was misappropriated, examining bank accounts, cash, gold, foreign currency and documents seized from the suspects’ premises.

A search of Mishra’s rented house yielded a bag containing land‑related documents and other material that investigators are analysing to determine any link to the alleged fraud. Earlier interrogations of other accused, including Avinash Shukla and three others, uncovered cash amounts up to ₹20.39 lakh, gold, silver and a donation box labeled “Ramrajya Fund.” The Special Investigation Team set up by the Uttar Pradesh government continues to verify the recovered evidence and will pursue further legal action based on its findings.
