Rama Salla Dieng joins Geneva Institute of International Relations

Senegalese academic, political scientist, and feminist activist Rama Salla Dieng has joined the Geneva Institute of International Relations and Development. She will serve as an associate professor in the Department of International Relations and Political Science and as co-director of the Centre d’études du genre (Gender Studies Centre).

Dr. Dieng is a specialist in the political economy of development in Africa, with research focusing on gender, racial capitalism, agrarian changes, and social reproduction. In addition to her new role in Geneva, she teaches international development and African studies at the University of Edinburgh and serves as an associate researcher at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar.

Beyond academia, she advises governments and international development agencies on feminist policies, intersectionality, and decolonization. She is a recipient of the 2025 Paula Kantor Prize for excellence in field research.
