Ramadan 2027 expected to begin on February 8 based on astronomical estimates

Astronomical estimates suggest that the holy month of Ramadan is expected to begin on Monday, February 8, 2027. The duration of the month may extend into early March, depending on the sighting of the Shawwal crescent.

Because the Hijri calendar is based on lunar cycles, the start of Ramadan advances by approximately 10 to 11 days each year in the Gregorian calendar. While these dates are based on astronomical calculations, the official start date will be formally announced by Dar al-Ifta al-Missriyyah following the legal moon sighting process.

Prayer schedules and fasting times, such as Suhoor and Iftar, will shift gradually throughout the month. For example, estimates indicate that the Fajr prayer time will move earlier from 5:13 AM on the first day to approximately 4:47 AM by the twenty-ninth day, while Maghrib times will shift from 5:38 PM to 5:58 PM. Residents are advised to consult official local schedules for precise timings based on their specific geographic locations.
