Ramakrishna Hegde birth centenary honored by Siddaramaiah

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has written a tribute to mark the birth centenary of Ramakrishna Hegde, a significant political figure in post-independence Karnataka. Hegde served as Chief Minister from 1983 to 1988 and later held positions as Vice Chairman of the Planning Commission and as a Union Minister.

Siddaramaiah highlighted Hegde’s unique leadership quality of identifying the potential in others and granting them the autonomy to work. He recalled a personal instance from 1983 when, despite Siddaramaiah’s own hesitations regarding his qualifications, Hegde encouraged him to lead the newly formed Kannada Kavalu Samiti, valuing his commitment and respect for the language over formal academic credentials.
