The South Asian epic Ramayana continues to influence global cinema through various retellings. Director Nitesh Tiwari is preparing a Hindi film based on the tradition, which is scheduled to receive an English-dubbed release for American audiences in November 2026.

The ancient Sanskrit epic, composed between 400 B.C.E. and 400 C.E., follows Prince Rama's journey to rescue his wife, Sita, from the demon king Ravana. Beyond direct adaptations, elements of the story have appeared in Western films, such as Alfonso Cuarón’s 1995 film ‘A Little Princess,’ which incorporates scenes inspired by the epic's narrative.
