Ramayana film to release overseas on Nov 6, before India Diwali debut

The upcoming cinematic adaptation of the Indian epic 'Ramayana,' directed by Nitesh Tiwari, will follow a staggered global release strategy. Producer Namit Malhotra confirmed that the film is scheduled to release in international markets on November 6, 2026, to align with standard Friday theatrical schedules. In India, the film will open on November 8, 2026, coinciding with the Diwali holiday.

The production aims for a massive global scale, targeting a rollout across 50,000 international screens. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, and Yash, is being produced as a two-part saga, with the second installment planned for Diwali 2027. Sony Pictures will handle international distribution, while Dharma Productions will manage the domestic Indian release.

A significant technical highlight is the use of Brahma AI, an artificial intelligence-powered lip-sync technology developed by DNEG. This technology was utilized for the English-language trailer to match actors' lip movements with English dialogue while preserving their original voices, a move intended to enhance the experience for global audiences.
