Ramayana team defends film VFX against social media criticism

The cast and crew of the upcoming mythological epic Ramayana have responded to online criticism regarding the film’s visual effects (VFX) and CGI following the release of its trailer. While the trailer received praise for its scale, many social media users criticized the quality of the computer-generated imagery and costume designs.

Actor Ranbir Kapoor addressed the backlash by noting that the rise of AI and social media has led viewers to believe they are experts in CGI. He emphasized that the film is the result of years of work by dedicated artists and that many people judge complex sequences based on brief clips viewed on smartphone screens.

Producer Namit Malhotra argued that the film is designed as a massive theatrical experience and should not be judged through compressed mobile video. He also noted a misconception where audiences mistake sophisticated, human-led VFX work for simple AI-generated content. Director Nitesh Tiwari expressed frustration that online nitpicking can overshadow the extensive technical effort involved in the production.
