Ramban: 19-year-old student drowns in Chenab River

A 19-year-old college student, identified as Ravi Kumar, drowned in the Chenab River in the Maitra area of Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday. Kumar, a resident of Tangar village, was reportedly bathing near the riverbank when the incident occurred.

Search and rescue operations are currently underway. Teams from the Jammu and Kashmir Police, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and the Civil QRT Ramban have been deployed to search the river and surrounding areas. Executive Magistrate Ramban Deep Kumar confirmed that rescue teams are actively engaged in the effort to locate the missing student. Officials have advised the public to exercise caution and avoid entering water bodies like the Chenab River due to prevailing conditions and potential risks.
