Rambo franchise to receive prequel titled ‘John Rambo’

A new installment in the Rambo franchise, titled ‘John Rambo’, is in development as a prequel. Produced by Millennium Media, the film will focus on a young John Rambo during the Vietnam War.

Finnish director Jalmari Helander is slated to direct the project, with Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani serving as screenwriters. Filming is expected to begin in Thailand in 2026. Because the film is a prequel, Sylvester Stallone is not expected to return to the role; instead, actor Noah Centineo is reported to portray the younger version of the character.

The film is scheduled for a theatrical release in the United States on June 4, 2027.
