Ramboll analysis: Construction emissions can drop without rising costs

A new analysis conducted by Ramboll for Klimatarena Stockholm suggests that the construction industry can achieve significant reductions in climate emissions without increasing project budgets. The report indicates that emissions from new construction projects can often be reduced by 20 percent at no additional cost, and with optimal conditions, reductions of 30 to 40 percent are possible within existing budgets.

Key strategies to achieve these goals include integrating cost and climate impact assessments early in the project lifecycle. By utilizing optimized construction methods, more efficient material use, and better decision-making processes, developers can create the financial headroom necessary to invest in climate-improved concrete, recycled steel, and bio-based materials.
