Ramići residents announce protests over landfill waste and odors

Residents of Ramići have announced protests in response to persistent unpleasant odors and the discovery of animal waste at the regional landfill. Local citizens report that the smell is particularly intense during hot weather, making it difficult to open windows or spend time outdoors.

The Center for Environment has noted that while the disposal of animal waste at sanitary landfills is not illegal due to a lack of adequate alternative disposal methods, improper handling—such as failing to cover waste with lime or soil—can contribute to the spread of infections and attract pests like rats, crows, and stray dogs.

Ratko Jokić, director of DEPOT, stated that all waste received is recorded and handled according to regulations. He urged citizens not to spread unverified information and invited those with evidence of irregularities to present it so that inspections can be called immediately.
