Ramin Bahrani to direct ‘Last Meals’ starring Mads Mikkelsen

Iranian-American filmmaker Ramin Bahrani is set to direct the new film ‘Last Meals’, with production scheduled to begin next month. The film stars Mads Mikkelsen as Walter Karat, a former White House chef who, following a scandal, takes a position at a super-secure prison preparing final meals for death row inmates.

The plot follows Karat as his disciplined life is disrupted by a prisoner named Reid, played by Boyd Holbrook. As the two interact, Karat begins to doubt the prisoner's guilt and embarks on a quest for the truth. The cast also includes Tassa Thompson as a food critic and Michael Shannon as Governor George Callahan.

Written by Justin Piasky, the project will have international sales handled by HanWay Films. No production studio has yet joined the project.
