Ramiro Petros released on bail amid fraud investigation

A court in Santiago del Estero has ordered the release of businessman Ramiro Petros, who has been in custody since January. Petros is accused of multi-million dollar fraud involving vehicle sales and the use of bad checks.

During a judicial hearing led by Judge Héctor Salomón, the defense argued for Petros's release, citing expired preventive detention periods and offering to comply with electronic monitoring. Following the hearing, the court granted his release subject to a 75 million Argentine peso bail bond.

Petros's detention status changed in July after a fire at the building where he was serving house arrest, leading a judge to revoke his home confinement and transfer him to the Centro Único de Detenidos. He remains under judicial investigation as the legal process continues.
