Ramiro Valentín Román awaits urgent heart transplant
Ramiro Valentín Román, a 17-year-old patient at Hospital Garrahan, is urgently awaiting a heart transplant. His condition has deteriorated significantly due to hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, which caused his heart to dilate.
In addition to the cardiomyopathy, Ramiro suffers from Danon disease, a rare genetic disorder that affects various organs, primarily the heart. This condition was also diagnosed in his mother. His medical history includes arrhythmias and an ablation procedure performed in November 2021.
Due to his worsening health, Ramiro has been intubated. His family is calling for a compatible donor to emerge as soon as possible to facilitate the life-saving procedure.
