Ramkumar Mandal dies after accidental shooting and ambulance crash in Rajasthan

In Nagaur district of Rajasthan, hotel employee Ramkumar Mandal was shot when a man displayed a homemade firearm (a desi katti) while preparing tea. The bullet entered his right chest and he was taken to JLN Hospital in Nagaur, then referred to a hospital in Jodhpur for further treatment.

During the private ambulance transfer, the driver swerved to avoid a stray cow, causing the vehicle to overturn into a roadside ditch. Four occupants, including Mandal, were injured; Mandal succumbed to his gunshot wound while receiving treatment, while the others were hospitalized.

Police identified the suspect as Mahipal Vishnoi, a local resident who had been showing the weapon as a joke. The hotel was sealed, CCTV footage is being reviewed, and a multi‑district manhunt has been launched to apprehend Vishnoi.
