Ramky Group proposes $2bn investment in Ghana

India’s Ramky Group has proposed an investment of at least US$2 billion in Ghana over the next five years. The exploratory plans, discussed with the Ghana Investment Promotion Authority (GIPA), cover a wide range of sectors including pharmaceuticals, energy, waste management, agriculture, and housing.

A central component of the proposal is the phased development of a 2,000-acre industrial park. This facility is intended to host manufacturing for pharmaceuticals, food processing, chemicals, textiles, petrochemicals, and medical devices, potentially positioning Ghana as an export hub within the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

In the energy and waste management sectors, the group is considering a 24-megawatt waste-to-power project, a national-scale medical waste treatment facility, and a hazardous industrial waste treatment plant. Additional proposals include affordable housing and agricultural projects aimed at supporting local economic development.
